Leaf removal in Kannapolis: what is different here

The City of Kannapolis lists its loose leaf collection season, vacuuming of loose leaves only, as beginning November 2, 2026 and ending January 15, 2027, and says leaves do not need to be bagged during that period. An interactive map shows each address's pickup zone and a printable 2026 calendar. Leaves must be placed at the curb or along the ditch line, not in the ditch, in rows parallel with the street. The city lists no loose leaf collection on Veterans Day, the Thanksgiving holiday, December 23 to 25 or New Year's Day.

The town's calendar and limits

In Kannapolis, the town's leaf service (November 2, 2026 to January 15, 2027) does the heavy hauling only for clean piles. We keep sticks, rocks and debris out of the pile, and anything the service will not take leaves with us.

Tree limbs, twigs and brush piles may be no larger than 4 by 12 by 4 feet at the curb. Crews will not collect bags over 50 pounds, logs longer than 6 feet or larger than 12 inches in circumference, or debris from major tree removal or land clearing.

Debris and contractors

On hired cleanups in Kannapolis, the safe plan is to remove everything we create. The estimate lists the haul-off, and we confirm anything unusual with the town first.

Kannapolis housing by the Census numbers

For Kannapolis, the ACS lists 57,890 residents and a median year built of 1989. That age range pairs full-size trees with plantings that are ready for editing. A bigger canopy means leaves keep falling after the first cleanup.

ZIP by ZIP, the median year built reads 28081 (1986), 28083 (1974) and 28027 (2001).
