Why mowing height matters
Cutting too short is the most common lawn mistake we see around Charlotte. Scalped turf dries out in July heat, lets crabgrass and other weeds take hold, and recovers slowly on red clay. Taking off no more than about a third of the blade per cut and keeping fescue taller through summer keeps a lawn thicker and greener with less water. We also keep blades sharp, because dull blades tear grass and leave brown tips.
